Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)

Is a virtually isolated pool of shared computing resources within a public cloud environment. 

The use of this term is usually to focus on the isolation and its security, which is normally achieved by allocating a subnet and a virtual communication construct such as VLAN.  Authorizing remote access and encryption of traffic in and out of the VPC is normally some form of a Virtual Private Network VPN function.
